The cooking class takes place in the city of La Spezia, very close to the Cinque Terre. You can get there easily, as it's just one short train stop from Riomaggiore. The program will start with a stroll in La Spezia and a visit to the colourful local market. See the fish sellers with the fresh fish and seafood, find the regional vegetables: juicy tomatoes, green asparagus, aromatic mushrooms and precious artichokes. Most Cinque Terre restaurants get their fish at this market as well.
With your cook, you will buy the fresh ingredients for your seafood meals. Then you will continue your walk to the beautiful little restaurant where the course will take place. Your chef cooks following the ideas of Slow Food so she prepares typical local dishes using fresh, simple, good quality ingredients with little environmental impact.
The results are – needless to say – delicious! At the end of the course, you will enjoy a nice lunch and eat what you have just prepared.
Price includes: cooking course, visit to the local market, lunch with drinks and the recipes.
As for the cooking course, it was a fantastic day, and I would highly recommend it to any of your clients! I loved the entire experience! An assistant, Warren, from Osteria met me promptly outside the train station. The visit to the market to buy all of the ingredients was very good, because I was able to see the local products, ask questions and get a lot of information from Warren and from Andrea, the restaurant manager. Once at the restaurant for the cooking, I was fully involved in the preparation of 3 different seafood dishes and received individual attention from Chef Silvia and Warren. It was a bonus for me that I could speak some Italian with the chef, but the experience would have been very informative and enjoyable for anyone, regardless of language. Warren is Canadian so he speaks perfect English. Andrea and Chef Silvia speak some English. Everyone treated me like an honored guest! Also, I think the price of the class was appropriate to the experience.
