The villages of the Cinque Terre are facing the deep blue Ligurian Sea so it is quite obvious that you will find seafood all over the place. Unfortunately, I am allergic to crabs and prawns so there are many fantastic local dishes I cannot enjoy. Luckily, I can eat fish including my favourite anchovies, mussels (try muscoli alla marinara), squid and octupus so I don't have to miss out on the entire experience.
You will find seafood in basically every restaurant. Local dishes are usually very simple with few ingredients. Recipes have been handed down from mother to daughter through generations.
For a nice experience, visit the market of La Spezia, it also has a wonderful seafood section. If you would prefer going to the market with a local expert, check out the cooking class in La Spezia with market visit. After shopping together at the market, you will prepare a delicious seafood menu with the help of your cook.
You can also try the big game fishing tour from Levanto.
If you would like to learn a few recipes online, you can watch on a short video how Filippo, a local chef, prepares 3 varieties of seafood pasta.
