Italian gastrotrip: how to make pasta with batti batti?

The 5th episode of our video series was made in Manarola. We were invited by Signora Giuliana and her son Davide into the kitchen of their nice restaurant. Their family has been running Trattoria il Porticciolo since 1972 and it's a popular place to eat among tourists and locals as well. You can find the trattoria on the lower part of the main street of Manarola, not far from the sea.

Filippo, their chef, greeted us with a big smile. Once all of us had finished a quick espresso or a caffè latte, we started working. Filippo was preparing the pasta dishes at an incredible speed, it was hard to follow him with the camera.

At first, he made Spaghetti al Porticciolo, the specialty of the restaurant. Then he prepared tagliolini with batti batti which is a typical shellfish in this area. At the end, he showed us how to make a simple but delicious pasta dish with anchovies.
